Consciousness and subconsciousness are two halves of the same whole, each leading us toward an infinite understanding of self and existence.

Left side

The left side of the artwork represents what we perceive as reality – our daily lives, needs, tasks, and awareness. It embodies the aspects of existence that are rooted in our consciousness.

Right side

On the right side, the image mirrors the left, but with subtle differences. This side represents the subconscious – the unseen channels and vibrations that shape our deeper understanding. At the top right of the composition, mushrooms serve as symbols of mind expansion, guiding the viewer through shifting channels of vibration.

Upper section

These elements lead to the central point of the piece, located at the top center. Here, a symbol appears – whether interpreted as a cross, yin and yang, or a Buddhist icon – signifying a universal belief system that connects us to something greater. This central symbol acts as a representation of the unknown, a force that links the conscious and subconscious minds.

The artist, Elvis Grahovac, seeks to illustrate the connection between these two stages of existence—conscious and subconscious. The two halves of the artwork are like an open book and mirror, inviting the viewer to explore the intersection of awareness and the infinite. Opening the mind is the key to understanding, as the subconscious is filled with fears, closed doors (represented by the jail bars in the top center of the artwork), and unexplained thoughts. Staring at this vast unknown can be intimidating, but stepping into it reveals the unity of both realities. Ultimately, the piece suggests that consciousness and the subconscious are not separate but intertwined, revealing that divinity is not an external entity, but exists within each of us.
